1. Purpose of the Site

BuyCanadian.biz exists to promote and support businesses that are majority-owned and operated by Canadians. To ensure the integrity of the directory, all submitted businesses must meet the eligibility criteria outlined below.

This policy defines who may be listed, how ownership is determined, and what happens when eligibility is unclear or misrepresented.

2. Core Eligibility Criteria

To be included in the BuyCanadian.biz directory, a business must meet the following criteria:

  • Canadian Ownership:
    The business must be at least 51% Canadian-owned by individuals or entities legally recognized as Canadian residents or citizens.
  • Operating in Canada:
    The business must conduct regular commercial activity in one or more Canadian provinces or territories.
  • Legitimacy:
    The business must be real, active, and represent a legal entity (incorporated, registered sole proprietorship, partnership, cooperative, or equivalent).
  • Acceptable Business Types:
    Makers, manufacturers, service providers, retailers, consultants, and digital vendors are all eligible.
  • Non-Eligible Entities:
    • Subsidiaries or franchises of foreign-controlled companies
    • Dropshipping brands with no Canadian operational footprint
    • Shell companies created to simulate Canadian presence
    • Businesses found to provide false or unverifiable information

3. Declaration of Ownership

All submitters must check a required declaration during listing submission:

“I confirm that this business is at least 51% Canadian-owned.”

By checking this box, you are entering into an agreement that:

  • The information provided is accurate and truthful
  • You understand that false submissions may result in removal without refund (if applicable)
  • You agree to provide additional verification if requested

4. Verification & Registry Data

BuyCanadian.biz reserves the right to verify any submission using public data sources, including:

  • Provincial or federal business registries
  • Corporate transparency records
  • Public websites and domain ownership data
  • Published media or trade references

Providing a public business registry link is strongly encouraged. It may accelerate review and improve the listing’s trustworthiness.

5. Listing Review and Approval

All listings are subject to review before being published. We will do our best to list your business as quickly as possible with the follow estimations:

  • Free listings are reviewed within 7–14 days
  • Paid listings are reviewed within 3 business days.
  • Listings may be approved, rejected, or held for clarification at the sole discretion of the platform

If a listing is rejected, any associated payment will be refunded unless false or misleading information was knowingly submitted.

6. Reporting Ineligible Listings

If you believe a listing misrepresents its ownership or eligibility, you may report it by contacting:

All reports are reviewed manually and confidentially.

7. Removal Policy

BuyCanadian.biz reserves the right to:

  • Remove any listing found to be ineligible
  • Request updated information at any time
  • Deny future submissions from repeat violators
  • Revoke “Verified” badges or promotional visibility for cause

No public takedown notices are issued, but repeat offenses will be logged internally.
